Inspirator @ Global Inspiration Day, 28 October, Session Two
Chief Operating Officer of Agricolleges International
The Futures Project 2020 Semi Finalist
Growing up in rural Limpopo Province, South Africa, Wynand Espach has always had a love for soil and agriculture and a passion for education and the people of the African continent. After completing his studies, Wynand was naturally drawn back to the rural Limpopo town of Tzaneen. Here he joined Amorentia Estate where he started as nursery assistant and worked through the ranks to where he now serves as Managing Director, just over 16 years later. The developmental challenges of farming, education, training and rural development has driven Wynand and the team at Amorentia to become a beacon of excellence in the farming community.
Their diversification as a small farm has been inspirational to many other farmers in the district. Wynand has served as the Chairman of the Board of Thlalefa School for 12 years. The school was established in 1983 by Howard Blight on the farm Amorentia Estate and serves the rural area of Politsi Valley and caters for children of farm labour. The school has been nominated the best rural school in Limpopo Province on a number of occasions. Wynand was a Shareholder and Co-founder of a large agricultural enterprise in Mozambique that created huge employment opportunities and uplifted an entire community between 2009 and 2015. Wynand took over as the Chief Operating Officer of Agricolleges International in 2018.
