Ian Marley is the Academic Head of Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. Ian holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Art Drawing (cum laude) and a PhD in History of Art, which dealt with practice-led research and creative knowledge management. He is also a practising artist, has had several solo exhibitions, and has taken part in group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. He has also produced several artists’ books and contributed to numerous print exchanges. With more than 25 years’ experience, he believes that education should be focused on addressing societal issues through creativity and critical theoretical engagement.
