MORE ABOUT THE ISIBANE SE AFRIKA CHOIR
“Andisiwe Mbunje Gaqa is the founder of Isibane Se Afrika. Isibane Se Afrika, an incredible Khayelitsha-based choir that’s performed in Poland, Germany, and for the royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Andiswe herself grew up in Khayelitsha and has always had a love for art and performing. Due to circumstances and bullying at school, she dropped out of high school but felt it important to finish so returned later to complete her Matric and performance studies. After this she got a part in a theatre production called Amandla Mandela in Amsterdam and has since also been in movies and commercials” – Afternoon Express, 27 Feb 2020
“For Andisiwe township life is all about neighbours. People caring for each other and sharing and exchanging food, love, and their experiences. Isibane Se Afrika invites you into their neighbourhood so you can experience this fraternity first-hand. They take you on a tour to hotspots like Lookout Hill and a pre-school nearby owned by a caring father in the neighbourhood. They also share stories with you at Andisiwe’s mother’s garage where the choir has been perfecting their craft. You’ll even get to join the joyful celebration by learning how to dance with the group as they perform a medley of hits.
Fill your heart with a song in Khayelitsha with the Isibane Se Afrika choir and go on a soulful experience you’ll never forget.” – MapMyWay
